FAQ

Q: What does Second Act do?
A: Second Act’s primary focus is on women who have had cancer surgery and/or are experiencing hair loss from chemotherapy treatments.

We offer post-surgery recovery products, bras and breast forms to help women who have had a mastectomy, more limited breast conserving surgery or reconstruction. Our trained and certified mastectomy fitters can help you achieve your ideal shape and symmetry whether your surgery was recent or many years ago. We also offer those “nice to have” extras like swim suits and camisoles.

In addition, if you are experiencing hair loss or are looking for a wig or hairpiece for any reason, our experienced stylists will help you select the right solution from our extensive inventory of styles and colors. And we haven’t forgotten those all important accessories such as hats, scarves, turbans and other head coverings.

To better understand the process of meeting with a Certified Mastectomy Fitter and being fitted for post-breast surgery products check out “The Process; Your Next Steps” and our “Plan A Visit” pages. For information about insurance and what may be covered go to our “Insurance” page.

A: Our phone number is 773.525.2228, our fax number is 773.348.2228, and you can reach us via e-mail at pattie@secondactchicago.com.

Q: What are your hours?
A: At Second Act we give each individual our undivided attention. For this reason we work by appointment and cannot guarantee that someone will be available to meet with you if you arrive without one. Please also note that while our general hours are 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, we do make appointments on Saturday, a few times a month. For these reasons, we encourage you to call in advance for an appointment so we can give you the attention you deserve.

Q: Where are you located and how do I get there?
A: We are conveniently located in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood and are easily accessible by car or public transportation. The CTA #76/Diversey bus stops at the corner of Lincoln and Diversey, just steps from our door. It also connects directly to the Diversey/Sheffield Brown Line El stop, just 3 blocks away, as well as the Blue Line and many north-to-south bus routes including the #8/Halsted, #9/Ashland, #22/Clark, #36/Broadway, #50/Damen, #151/Sheridan and #156/LaSalle buses. There is also ample street parking on Lincoln Avenue, but that does require the use of the parking pay box.  You will need a credit card or quarters for that unless you have the app.
